Dawn Ministries was established in 1997.  When Pastor Peter attended the Mennonite World Conference at Calcutta he had the opportunity to visit the charitable institutions of Mother Theresa.  She was doing marvelous service to the poor, needy and orphans.  On seeing the dedicated service of the late Mother Theresa, Peter was challenged and inspired to also serve the poor, needy and orphans.  As a result of that, Dawn Ministries was established in 1998 and was registered under the societies Act of the Government of AP, India in the year 1998.

Dawn has a wide vision for the upliftment of the poor, needy and orphans which includes giving them a helping hand in their economic, social, educational and physical needs.  The families of India also have domestic problems like anywhere else in the world.  Broken families are ministered to in many different ways.   To meet these needs Dawn has taken a holistic approach with the three main facets of ministry which are;  Medical, Love-in-Action, and Discipleship.

The "Love-in-Action" department has three major wings.

1.  Elderly/Widow care project - Taking care of the elderly and widows and providing them with nutritious food and imparting tailoring training through Dawn Sewing Centers.

2.  Drinking Water Project - Drilling wells in remote areas / villages where there is scarcity of drinking water.

3. Education - Providing education to the poor and needy by meeting their school expenses, providing them school text books, note books and a school uniform, plus boarding and lodging.  During Peter's visits to remote areas and villages in India, he came across many tribes who are living below the poverty line and are not able to provide any schooling for their children.  These people expressed that they had a great desire to educate their children but because of their economic backwardness, they could not provide even a minimum education.  God has given us a great task!
