From Idolater to Discipler
S. J. Peter grew up a son of the Hindu tribal leader of a village enslaved to idolatrous goddess worship. Sent to a mission school to complete his education, he found Christ there and later answered the call to Christian service in 1975. He first served in radio ministry, but later became specially burdened with Jesus' call to "disciple the nations". He began evangelizing and baptizing people from neglected villages and formed DAWN Ministries in 1997 to "disciple and witness among all natives" of Andhra Pradesh state in India.
Today, Paster Peter and his family live in Hyderabad, AP. Dawn Ministry focuses a great part of its multifaceted discipleship efforts on people groups living in remote and poverty-stricken areas that have been touched by few, if any, evangelistic efforts.
Evangelism and Church Planting
DAWN missionary teams conduct evangelistic crusades in various villages throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh. They also have shown the "Jesus" film to over 75,000 people in hundreds of locations. Through these efforts over 1,500 souls have responded to the gospel message. DAWN seeks to average two film showings per week.
